Hi my hand brake on my 97 300tdi disco has never been great since i bought it how ever after running after it i think its about time i fixed the problem. Just curious to how easy it is, done a few on some of my previous cars but not a land rover anything to look out for? thanks for the help.

The only difference is you will have to uncouple the propshaft before taking the drum off other than that it's a standard drum brake. But try adjusting it first tighten the shoes up, the adjuster is on the backplate, and then back off till you get three clicks on the handbrake lever.

After adjusting at the backplate there's also a cable adjuster under the centre console, but mine was a right b'stard to turn, and a right palaver to fit the handbrake gaiter back in!

Before you do any of the above look for oil stains/leaks around the drum as the transfer box seal can leak.

regards

Dave
