Hi there after recently getting hold of a Series II Disco i have noticed the handbrake light has started flicking on and off intermittently when driving even though the handbrake is not on  Anyone had this problem before? Is it an easy fix? Its a V plate Diesel with 46k and apart from that is pretty much perfect. It just needs a set of offroad tyres now so if anyone has any recomendations on make & size to go for that would be a great help as well.

cheers

Hi
Just recently my light has started doing the same I have checked the brake fluid level but that is ok so the only other thing is the hand brake warning switch.I think the best way to get to it is take the cubby box out or the center console. If I can I will try and look at it later and let you know more details.

Hi I have got to my handbrake switch and cleaned it and it seams ok so far.To get to the switch remove to electric window switch panel just pull the plastic cover off and then 4x screws to remove the other part and then pull all of that out of the way.You will see 2x gold coloured screws on the side of the hand brake mounting you can undo the screws and then the switch will be loose and you can remove it.You can take the switch apart and clean and grease it and then refit it which is a little tricky to put back but if you have a magnet and a helper with small hand you can get it back.Or if you cannot get it back that way then undo the two bolts in the cubby box and then from the rear seet footwell undo the 4x screws securing the lower part of the center consol and remove then you can lift the main consol up to get to the switch so you can hold the switch in place to get the screws back.

Hope that helped
