Defender 110 csw 1997.
Can anyone help? When I apply the handbrake the dash bulb lights momentarily then goes out. Having looked at googled pics of the switch, I'm assuming that when the switch is made the attached neutral is earthed through the switch bracket onto the frame of the handbrake - is this correct?

yes,the switches are fragile things there is also a join in the wire about a foot away from switch above transfer box

Turned out that the switch contact attached to the wire was badly corroded - removed & cleaned now functions as intended.
