Hello Peopes, been a while! I am still standing despite ongoing medical issues that see me spending more time in hospital than I would wish but it is what it is! All good with the old girl but I want to adjust the handbrake because it currently needs to be absolutely full up before engaging and even then doesn't hold on a steep slope. Have never really needed it to work properly but want to make sure it doesn't become an MOT failure item. Ours is a 2006 range rover vogue 3 litre diesel with the dreaded 5 speed gm box, anyone know if there is an adjuster or is it digital? As far as I know it is mechanical and was hoping it might just be a case of tightening up a cable, but being a RR I am sure it won't be simple. Any help appreciated

Unfortunately there is no cable adjustment, you have to take rear wheels off, rotate the hub until the little rubber bung is on the bottom, pull out the bung and insert a flat head screw driver in the hole, there is a cog you can rotate to expand or contract the brake shoes. Rave describes the procedure below:

Be aware the adjustment is pants, I put new shoes and discs and replaced the cable after an MOT failure, it was all good, failed the next year for same thing, I managed to adjust it up to pass but I think it would fail again now and it has only been a few months. Other on here told me at the time they had put new on vehicles and they still wouldn't hold on a hill.

Hope that helps
