halfords tools are up to the job pretty much the same as snap om and teng and an othername yer want to throw into the hat. if you read the thread properly the tool in question was put beyond its limits before it was broken. it has now been swapped for a new one free of charge. if you want to go down the magpie route of having the shiniest snap on tools then thats your bag. personally i prefere a rusty spanner that does the job

Yella, I'd rather a clean shiny spanner that does the job rather than a rusty one! and ftr my toolbox has tools from halfords professional, snap on/blue point, mac tools/tona, teng, taskmaster, facom, wurth, draper, stanley, and plenty of cheapies and b&q/focus own brand stuff. There is definetely a noticeable quality difference between different brands of tools but as a general rule as long as it's got a lifetime warranty it's good kit.

If your in the middle of a field, at 9:00 at night, and your baler or combine has just boken (or for that matter in the middle of no-where in your landy) knowing that halfords will change it in the morning isn't going to cheer you up much is it.

If you read my comment properly the snap on tool a talked about was 41 years old, therfore not sat there looking shiney and pretty. also tools have a nasty habbit of hurting you when the snap!
