Hi all, I've got my first engine oil change coming up since I bought my disco 2 Td5 And wondered what the forum thought about using Halfords own brand ?

Thanks

Well said, end of thread. :D

Yeah but what about ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................oh ok

For what it's worth... I'm a trade card holder with Halfords
& was told by my local store manager that their oil is made by Comma these days. :)

Euro car parts do good deals on engine oil with there own triple qx brand. I got 4 x 5ltr 10w 40 for my disco 1 for £40 a couple of years ago. All oil gone now and the disco body is knackered but the engine is still sweet.Passed the mot emissions test no problem :) The rest of the car failed miserably:(

Thanks will look it up.....sorry to hear about your disco 1.....will you keep going
Or send it to the disco grave yard.....:amen

I have bought another 300 tdi from an old friend,98 es model with leather seats, nice condition for its age but it has had some welding done already. The old disco I have sorned and will be selling for spares or repair. The engine was rebuilt 7 years ago and has done 30k since then so its in great condition.

I don't know why anyone would want to pay more at Halfords when as good as, or better can be bought elsewhere for less

I thought I was done recently £23 for 4.5 ltrs of EP75w90 at a "elsewhere" place and I needed 6 litres, I did realise that oils had gone up the last time I purchased the stuff it was £11. Perhaps as I have a trade card I should have gone to Halfords :D

Personally i would never buy anything from halfords its all overpriced, go to your local motor factors you get much better deals there

Halfords is too dear

For most things in my experience, excepting hi fi and sat navs stuff

Go to a factor, better oil at less money, Morris, fuchs, all out there, at much less

I use semi synthetic 10/40 in my td5 D2 no ill effects, and doesnt run through an engine like epsom salts the way some 5 /30's do
