First off, I can't seem to find a Hummer dedicated newsgroup so a
headsup would be appreciated.

A girlfriend of mine drives a H1 and she recently *lost* her signals.
Is there a relay under the dash or under the hood that can be
replaced? If so, are the hazard lights wired through the same relay
(I'm not sure if they work or not but I'll ask later).

Also, her windshield wipers come on sporadically while driving. Sounds
like a bad wiring job to me but I know VW, not these beasts. Lol.

TIA!
Darryl.

errr, it's a 2002.

Flasher in the fuse box under dash.

No, different flasher (there are two)

Just like a VW... <g> Check the wash switch, that is often the
problem.

Thanks for the quick reply Peter. As a matter of fact, if I didn't
know better, I thought I was driving my '89 Jetta with cut springs the
ride was rough enough. ;-).

Now, to find out how pricey these relays are!

Darryl.

More questions: Just talked to Roy Foss Hummer (Toronto, Ontario,
Canada) who says there is no relay. He was essentially useless,
telling me to bring the H1 in for service. Then, I reread your
message: is there only a fuse for the signals? If so, I'll check
that (problem is, car is an hour away), maybe I'll try to find an
online parts store (if they exist).

He found the relay, didn't quote me a price...lol.

Darryl.

Hi Mike,

The Canadian Tire store that I've called referred me to the Roy Foss
dealership, claiming that they don't supply parts. Is the signal
flasher unit a universal fit or something?

Darryl.

Flashers have been universal pretty much forever. They wear out, you
can get ones that are standard that bitch when a bulb is burned out,
electronic ones that will run any number of bulbs, quiet ones and
specifically noisy ones but they all fit one or two plug socket
designs.

I can't see Hummer not having normal flasher....

Standard parts. ALmost everything on the H1 is standard for something.
Lot's of Ford parts (like the steering column, and turn signal stuff,
Chrysler, and GM. The only truely unique things are body/trim, hubs
and half-shafts etc. Much of the electrical on earlier models (pre-96)
has some military connectors.

There is no relay for the turn signals.

If the wipers are turning themselves on, unplug the washer swtich and
see if the problem goes away.

LOL...My original text should have read: relay, not flasher. My
mistake, but good laugh...
