As funky slipper said we did mine in 2 days but i fooked up and had to borrow his rangie( :D ) to go back home to get some bits i forgot and then we slipped and cut a brake line so had to get a new one and the was some other stuff too.

All in all should have taken a day to do +5 shocks, +2 springs, radius and trailing arms, shock mounts front and rear and spring catchers aswell.

Was good though. :D

Thanks Kipper :)

Yes man!

Install done.

All in all it took about 13 hours.
I dont think thats too bad for 2 idiots that has never worked on a defender AND all the frikin rust.

Drove it for the first time this morning to work and must say that it reall feels sooo much nicer. no squeaks, no rattles!

I have not installed the front bumper and winch so the front is riding higher than the rear by about 2", looks kinda wierd but the weight and time will level her out.
Cant wait to try her out in the bush.

Big respect for Gwynn Lewis. Everything bolted up properly with no issues and it looks really strong.

I already posted some pics on the install on another thread but figured that this is the propper thread for them and there will be a few more.

Thanks to all for the help.
Next will be front bumper and winch then possibly a full roll cage.:D

RUST!

But my frame is in great shape.

Surgery begins:eek:

The rusty nuts and bolts slowed us down, no torch and no grinder.

But we finally get it.

Nice and new.

Pretty

First one done :clap2:

And the rear, was much easier except for the trailing arms. We had to borrow a big grinder.

More to come.

Looks good, can you notice a difference in the ride/handling? Ps. what you took off looks in better shape than what i have:eek:

Big difference. It all feels tighter now. Bumps are absorbed lots smoother, no jarring.
Cornering is lots better, she has way less body roll.
Even the steering feels tighter.

That's a bit of a posh floor to be working on. When I were a lad all we had was gravel to lie on and we were thankful.

Maplins Car ceramic heater. £9.99 It's a winner. Cleared my disco windows at 4am this morning in about 10 minutes while I drank tea in the house.

Do prop-shafts come pre-greased?

I am wondering if I need to grease mine.

They looked like they came already greased.

Takin Pumkin in the bush tomorrow, all day!
Not too rough but rough enough and some beach.
