Firstly my grumpy rant...
I have just come back to my 97 P38 - it needs an MOT etc - and I have a number if electrical issues I'd like to address.
I have looked at RAVE, and indeed at many other manufacturers electrical schematics over the years, and I would like to make the following point to anyone who will listen:-

I have never seen such a load of incompetently presented utter drivel in my life. An electrical system should be presented in the form Functional Diagram, Block Cable Diagram, Termination Diagram, Loop Diagrams, and should exist alongside a Functional Description & a Cause & Effect chart or schedule.
Each of the subsystems should be presented in the same manner.
These very simple, very readable diagrams are simply not present!!! Ever!!
Instead, what we have to put up with is each manufacturers attempt to - well I have no ****ing idea what they are attempting to do. What they succeed in is convincing ordinary people that vehicle electrics are too difficult - they are not. Grump! Impenetrable nonsense.

Signed, Castor CEng, MIEE, MIEEE, etc. who normally does nuclear engineering and *does* know what he is talking about in this particular case.

Sorry - I had to get that out. I'm furious on behalf of home mechanics every where.

Has anyone, to the best knowledge of all here, ever reverse engineered the documents I'm talking about?

:clap2::clap2::clap2: in answer to your question ,

NO but were all happy to laugh with you

:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi

im sure that with all your accredited letters behind your name :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

you will soon realize your :5bbeatdeadhorse5: but do let us know how you get on ;);););) regards MOZZ

It is badly done! Just been on it today to see where an ABS wire trcks and completely useless.......Grrrr!

I used to design computer hardware, I have no problem with the diagrams, I would just like more info on the insides of the various ECU's.

Diagrams are quite good compared to some, all terminal pins are listed for the various components, as are connectors with pin layout views and location views. Wires are colour coded, what do you want a self repairing loom? You want to try and follow a RR classic diagram. :D:D:D

I would add to the above comments that you shouldn't even have them anyway. They were produced to help their dealers carry out repairs, they had to pay for them.Compared to many other manufacturers guff they are very well laid out and in the main are accurate.
I paid for my Original Rave CD's as part of the Testbook package,I still use them ocassionally to help in earning a living,(Sort of...) from repairing LR's.

As a design engineer I have no major issues with them!

Each section is preceded with a write up on the operation and logic to a particular system...then the diagrams seem logical to me...power in at the top and earths at the bottom...
