I live on the border between norfolk, suffolk and cambridgeshire and was wondering if anyone knows of any good greenlaning routes in that area or within reasonable travelling distance? Also if anyone knows of where I can get hold of any maps showing marked out routes that would be appreciated.

Not far from me!
There's a fairly long green lane just south east of Cambridge. Can't remember the exact location but I know it's a fair few Kms long and dead straight. Get yourself a pink map from OS and have a look

The reason Norfolk council does not say that it is open to off road vehicles is that they are rather anal about the subject but if you take the time to look on an OS map they are shown as byways open to all vehicle. Many sections of the peddars way are ordinary roads so dont believe what you read on websites, get the facts from an OS map!

The lane I'm thinking of runs parallel with the old A604 (don't know what the new # is) between Linton and Cambridge. Coming out of Haverhill, head towards Cambridge and you pass the village of Horseheath. Take the next right (after about 2km) and go along the lane for another 1.5km. The green lane starts on your left here, taking a straight line all the way to the edge of Cambridge, joining the road between Fulbourn and Addenbrooke's. Total distance is about 12km. A nice easy intro to green lanes (although I haven't been along it for a few years now).

wat your looking for are the ordnance survey maps marked landranger the pink one trytry os landranger 144 ,theres some good lanes around kings forest elvedon and thetford , if you live norwich way theres a short lane at acle caister martham and gorleston blunderston, quite a few if your prepared to travel some better than others but thats the fun - finding them

TINCA: Don't take your Freelander greenlaning on your own. This rule applies to all vehicles - there's always the possibility of getting stuck and with another machine on the lane you've got a much greater chance of getting un-stuck. At this time of year those lanes should be hard and dry, so mud won't be a problem. Get a mate to go laning with you and enjoy yourself

cheers for that mate, i have a couple of mates with landies, a s3 and a disco, plus i have a mate (steve cooper) who has a beast who would pull me out if i got really stuck
my mate with the s3 decided to buy one, after needing to be pulled out of a field by a 28tonne loader back in january, my mondeo made it out fine, we had been fishing
the loader got stuck twice, but it was on slicks. my other mate, with the disco also got stuck twice, then gave up.
the field was where all the silt was dumped from the gravel works, it used to be a hole about 15ft deep

Hi all new to here dont have a land rover but i do have a trooper hope you wont hold it against me i wont they you all may have land rovers of some description anyway i am in Grafham cambridgeshire there is a couple of lanes here but the council have closed them till the end of this month and have found a new one my chance would love to meet some like minded offroaders and do some lanes so if any of you meet anywhere let me no and i will be there wife permiting i would love to do some lanes in other areas.

i suppose i should have said greenlanes around this area if any others close to me in cambs area i do get off road but only on off road sites just to clariffy that matter as lanes are roads and need to be treated as such.
