Went out today with a friend around Solihull, West Midlands. We headed up to a School lane not to far from the NEC and came across the biggest ford i have ever seen, which was obviously great fun. We then drove south to lapworth and conquered Tapster and Tinkers Lanes, Tapster was a straight forward uphill Lane, quite narrow, dry and offers plenty of nice surface scratches in the narrow, steep Lane:D Tinkers was a little more challenging when attacking it uphill, i struggled a little with ground clearance so approached from the other end and was fine. Great day out but would like to go out with a group sometime if anyone is heading out in the area????

Next time your out I wouldnt mind tagging along, I would love to find some local routes, Im a bit stuck at the moment as I only have a few mates with 4x4s and they are not too interested in going greenlaning. I keep reading the golden rule dont go alone.
Did you drive those lanes in one car? What would you think about driving the routes you metioned in a defender, how difficult are they.

Hi Chris, We went with a friends 4x4 also incase the worst happened! I received lots of good advice on here starting with not going alone:D Also i have spent the last few days Recceing the routes i had read about or seen on maps, i drove out, parked up and walked the routes first. Glad i did that as some of the routes were bogging!!! The routes we did today were fairly straight forward and i think they are fine for starting out (with my very limited experience) I would be happy to go out on these lanes with you but i am still looking for days out with more experienced Laners myself.....

hi both,

I know you want experienced laners (iam not) but im based in sutton coldfield and i work odd times like months on and months off so if you want an extra or wouldnt mind showing me some of the basics that would be great. i have shakles, strops etc etc. and i drive a 90.

There is another thread im trying to find on here called warwickshire greenlaning. i think there are some more experienced people replying to that. i came across this thread on my search for it.

Cheers

Matt

Would love to tag along if you go out again. Some of the lanes in Barston are ok but can get a bit tight in places.

The week is difficult for me but a Saturday / Sunday morning would be great. My uncle in Redditch would love to join us in his Defender too :D

I'd love to join you.

I live and work in Solihull - I often have appointments in the evenings but not all of them.

If I have no customers to see then Il be there !

do yu want double glazing or a new power provider?

No? then remove your fone number and ask him to PM yu instead. Putting fone numbers on an open forum is suicide :(.
