Cheers fellas, I would love a defender but insurance is sky high on that but not to bad on a disco, for some odd reason, been to see it tonight:) its in good nick apart from a small 50p size of rust on the wheel arch under bonnet, and a bit of surface rust at the back underneath by rear bumper. Is that bad? The door arches and boot floor are in fab condition

Get money off the price for the work to be done, and go for another thorough look. Im just jesting about the disco(fenders are better though :D )there good and alot cheaper than the equivalent fender. BUT...........They rust! alot!

Someone once told me that the places to look for rust on a disco are between the headlights and the tow ball!!!!

If the rust gets a hold it will rot from the inside out. So make sure you see all of it and are confident you can sort it or get it sorted.

Cheers guys yeah going to have another look at it today, as it needs a bit of tidying up inside as well, and I think it's ok for the price, they only offered me 700 for the garlanded and want 995 for the disco, which is a fair deal, but it is a bit tatty I have to admit inside it needs a few things replacing, like side door pockets and that, I checked it for rust. But I ain't 100% what I am looking at as I am new to the game, what I have been told to look out for seems fine, just a bit of surface rust under the back by the Towbar on the chassis, and that 50p size under the bonnet on the drivers side sheel arch,

Did you lift the rear carpet to inspect the boot floor?

Now go back fer another look, and take someone who knows what he's looking at..

Don't be afraid to give it a poke here and there and listen to the resulting sound.

If in any doubt, walk away (no, dammit RUN) because there will be plenty more to look at.

You're not that far from me, but I don't own one.

There are quite a few from round 'ere. FK isn't that far away I believe? (offer some cake, you'll get plenty of volunteers!)

I'm happy to come and look with you bud.

It's a bet of a trek to Reditch for u ain't it funky kipper? It's open till 5pm today and 5pm all week

Nope no news tried ringing them to see if I could pop up today but nothing, so might go over tomoz at some point if anyone could come along would be great, and how easy is it to fit new front door pockets as they have cracked and come apart and the back door pocket

Erm with the amount of abuse you have put your gaylander through, cracked door pockets will be the least of your worries.

Just make sure the basics are good first, engine, chassis, sills, floors (footwells, arches etc)

Drive the vehicle and make sure the gears all select and don't crunch too badly, expect a little bit, usually second gear, but nothing excessive.
Try engaging diff lock/ hi lo range but don't be surprised if it is stiff or won't budge as it might never have been used.

There is nothing really that can't be done with a little effort.

Just take a good negotiator who can haggle well, and know when to strike a good deal.

As I said by text I am free in the mornings this week but that's about it.
