Not knowing me or my history of course but you couldn't be more wrong.

I'm more than happy to run with the big dogs. :)
It's a shame you came on here moaning about the language as I've owned and restored countless type 1's and 2's....and built up decent engines from the ground up.

We spent a lot of time in the late 80's at bug jam and the nationals at POD..also went to peppercorn a few times :D
still thinking about getting anothe T1 :D

What memories - dirt & rust, swarf in the eyes etc. :D

I did try to find my old car some time ago. Last I heard it was just a bodyshell in a lock-up somewhere in London.

I scratch-built this in the 90's

a bit quicker than the 'Bug' ;)

yes a tad quicker than the bug ! my quickest engine was a 1776 with a decent cam, twin 40's and a lightened flywheel. Most reliable engine was a 1500 sp which never missed a beat or got too hot !

My bug started life as a 1967 1500 and yes they were one of the most reliable street motors.
For racing I built mainly 2.3 litre units using all aftermarket (expensive) parts, Scat crank and case, Autocraft heads, Carrillo rods etc, etc. The only VW part used was the front crankshaft pulley nut :)
45 IDA carbs, bored to 51mm, water injection and Nitrous, of course.

Serious money in the days that I was earning.

I was but an apprentice in those days so all my parts came from autocavan and autotrader ! I wish i'd have had that sort of money to play with back then :D:D serious time money and effort in that engine !

There is no such thing as bad language, only inappropriate language.

It is perhaps an underappreciated anger management technique.

Or underapreciated "get rid of the bloody git who cant take a hint and has no manners anyway"-technique. Works for me.

maybe their beer is good, but you should see the look on their faces when you have a beer with your lunch. and i never even mentioned to them having beer for breakfast...

but maybe it's because their engineers over here are stuck up gits
