Tried greasing the universal joints at the weekend and failed miserably, just not enough clearance to get the grease gun onto the nipple. Has anyone else had this? Can you get (ahem) nipple extensions? Or can you get grease guns with narrower spouts? :doh:
 
Garth, If you rotate the prop (via the road wheels) you can get enough clearance to get a standard size grease nipple head on. I leave the hand brake off and put chocks a few inches from either side of a wheel so that it wont fully run me over and then push on a wheel with my foot to spin the prop. I like to live dangerously and sod the health and safety police!!!!

Just put the grease nipple connecter on a grind stone and grind a few thou off then it will fit, that's what I had to do on a new flexy hose connector I bought to make greasing even easier..
 
or alternatively, just remove the prop and grease it on the bench, its far better and easier to get new grease to come out of all 4 bearing caps this way which is quite often hard to do when its on the car.

Your not wrong :) even if the nipple is at the top of the joint and facing upwards it can still be got at and the joint greased.

so youve got a greasy nipple problem :D tell me if the narrower spouts work ok .:hysterically_laughi sorry i couldnt help myself . just turn the props so you can get them
