Hi All,

Sorry to trouble but since she is running so well have started tackling the other little jobs: All oils changed, inc steering pump, hot start fix removed and went to grease the shafts and UJs.

Did a couple but gave up and have ordered a flexible connector for the grease gun but also the grease nipple was missing from the rear prop shaft and in a state of laziness could anyone tell me what grease nipple is needed? M6?

Also there is just a film of moisture on the front of the engine which I think is coming from the heater pipe that goes around the thermostat housing so assume I must have fitted the incorrect size of o ring when I changed the thermostat. So does anyone know what the dimensions are for that o-ring? P483 in RAVE item 11?

Thanks in advance.

Will be giving it a wash and polish next!

I'm guessing it's a diesel,if so prepare for a shock.

Sorry, yes, diesel, 95, manual. I would pop under and try an m6 bolt in the hole but kids end of term show all week so no time, plus every time I get under the car the Mrs assumes it is something really bad!

Haha, was wondering what the shock was going to be then looked at your photo! Unfortunately quite use to it! I guess as long as it is the correct o ring???? Was hoping one of the set I have might have fitted..........

I decided to get the proper one, didn't want to risk the engine for the sake of a fiver;):D

If you push the ball in the grease nipple in with something like a bradawl to make sure it isn't jammed it helps.

I'm sure I had a spare grease nipple from a UJ in my shed. Cannot remember when I last saw it but could have a dig around for you?

Just take one of the other ones off and use it to grease that one ;)
Won’t matter once it’s all clean grease in there

Grease nipples are UNF threads NOT metric. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-TYL100030

Makes sense for it to be a fine thread.

Did thin about taking one out but happy to wait a week and just have one in there. Especially with a fine thread, way to easy to muck up!

Just trying to find a place with sensible delivery charges, might even have to be the main dealer and cannot say stealer as there are no delivery charges!

thanks for the replies, very helpful and I can climb under the car when the Mrs is not around!

I find you have to grind a couple of flats on the grease gun to fit it in the UJs to get the grease into the joints otherwise the gun will not fit on to the nipples properly

Mine is an old Century Oils with a flexi pipe
(To the right is my life savings :D as a scale)
