Hi guys
Been watching some Aussie 4x4 vids on youtube and noticed alot of leaf sprung stuff use greasable shackle bolts and just wondered if anyone has fitted any and where can you buy them from :)

I would say either you drill them or get an engineering shop to drill them, fit them with a locknut, tighten it then back of half a turn, early cars had threaded shackles, probably get the same amount of slack with poly bushes fitted.
 
Original metastatic rubber bushes should be an interference fit in the chassis, and clamped between the shackle plates by the bolt.

Nothing to grease, and drilling the bolt will weaken it.

Polly bushes, on the other hand, would benefit from grease if only to push out old contaminated grease from offroading.

Thanks it was just a thought as the Aussies and americans tend to use greasable shackle bolts and presuming they use them with rubber and polly bushes.
 
Sure, it's a good thought. I'm not a fan of the metastatic bushes, they ask a lot of a thin profile of rubber.
It's a compromise, though, too much "wall" in the bush makes the handling very woolly. I use the word "handling" in the widest sense.
