I'm hoping someone can help me with my dilema. I live in Spain, where it gets very hot - in the summer. Because of this, I'm trying to find a way to mount my 5" gps unit onto the central vents, so I can use it while keeping it cool. Has anyone found a clamp, or whatever, that would do this?
I got a sort of clamp with the unit when I bought it, but am certain it's designed for flat vents, as opposed to the 2006 Td4 FL1's rounded design. I have a 7" too (how many guys could say that?). lol Any design would do, as long as it's suitable for a FL1.
Suggestions, anyone?

Keeping the sat nav cool is a good idea. The heat through the windscreen will cook the lithium battery inside the unit. This massively shortens the working life of said battery.
As for a mount. I can't help with that. But I'm liking your thinking. ;)

Actually you could fabricate from air vent smelly sticks onto a support plate for the satnav sit in. They are stable enough to cope or you could use four of the smelly stick for extra strength.

I wouldn`t mount one on the vent.
I ruined a similar MGF vent with a phone mount. They just aren`t built to handle any weight.
The weight of the satnav would make it drop to it's lowest position anyway.
For phone use on my hippo I am using a magnetic mount. There is an adjustable ball mounting that sticks to the lid above the radio and
a flat round plate sticks to the back of the phone (or Satnav).
I`ll take a pic to post.

Here's the pic
The plate that goes on the phone can be seen to the right of the mount.
Don't mind the dust!
