Perhaps I am being thick here.

2004 range rover with the old navigation disc. I bought a new 2015 disc so it may know a few more roads. The disc in the GPS drive won't budge. When the eject button is pressed nowt happens.

So I bought a replacement. Plugged that in and the same thing. Navigation works but I can't put in the new disc.

I don't really use satnav. I am more of a paper map man or simply remember where i am.going and figure it out along the way if I take a wrong turn.

How do I get the disc out. Can I really have two duff units.

Have you unlocked it

Mines does not look like that there is nothing to unlock.

2004 car. Different navigation Unit on the boot.

That the later unit. 2002 to 2004 used bmw parts. You got ford/ jag parts

Therefore no pic required. It just a dvd unit. Nowt special.

I was going to ask if the power light is on but as it's a different model to mine I guess there's no point.

The part numbers for the old unit and its replacement are the same. I have checked that much. The ebay link was for the unit I bought. No idea why ebay is redirecting to something else.

This is the old unit. The new one is identical.

Does anyone have any insight.

This is from another forum.

Also, the process to remove a stuck CD is as follows.

With car OFF, press and hold eject button. Hold forever until the red light goes out. 3-4 minutes or so. As soon as the light goes out very quickly let go of the button and then press again. This will force out the CD. It is really hard to get it exact, but you need to do it again if it does not eject.

If that does not work you can find a small screwdriver and on the right side there sometimes can be a mechanism that gets jammed. VERY VERY gently move that small metal tab to the right and sometimes that can get it to eject.

Is that a light or a hole next to the power sign? I remember the son in law wrecking their dvd player because a hired disc wouldn't eject and it needed returning, he was gutted when I pointed out a tiny hole in the front that you could insert a pin to override the eject button.;)

So far all attempts have failed. Looks like I will have two duff ones. Only option now is either mechanically force it somehow or get a new one, an actual new one if they are still available. Hardly worth it really.

If you goole disk removal there are articles about taking the front cover off to get the disk out
