After rebuilding chassis and lots of under chassis parts, MOT'd and on the road, I find it seems rough and down on power, today topping up box oil, I noticed a bit of a diesel leak, engine somewhere, cant see where, I remember years ago I had a leak and a friend of mine done something to the return pipe ??? Blanked it, ? I can't remember, he moved away years ago, any ideas, just where is the return pipe at the engine, help appreciated.

rear drivers side, theres a fuel cooler there too
Thanks that is round about the area of leak, never knew there was a fuel cooler, would have loved to have taken the body off instead of welding with it on and I would have been able to see everything, and the welding would have been so much easier than lying on back, sad person I am but "chassis off" is on my bucket list lol.

The most common is at the FPR, which would explain thepower loss too cos if it was on the return it won't affect power, concentrate on the bit with the sensor in it

see this too:

Easier with the inlet manifold off. You might find the inlet manifold gasket needs doing anyway if it hasn't been touched for a while - for some reason the manifold nuts are prone to work loose, which contaminates the gasket with carp from the EGR

Have a look for oily gunk oozing from the bottom of where the manifold mates onto the head.

I'd be sorting that quickly, the starter motor is in the firing line of that leak and will not do it any good.
Yes one more week on the pat n mick then it needs to get me back to work, so I suppose you just start stripping everything off until you get to the leak, its getting to me a bit, not the best quality for sure, bit like my Harley Davidson, constant maintenance eh, already spent months under it welding and replacing parts, bur hey ho, hopefully feeling a bit more positive tomorrow

That appears to be it, dripping from boss

Great, it looks straightforward I just need to find one now at a sensible price, if anyone has one for sale give us a shout.
