Depends on what you intend doing to the engine?
If just top end work attach stand to flywheel housing
If bottom end work you will have to remove the flywheel housing and attach the stand to the block
 
Engine hoist then on. Or in my case when I did mine. Jack it up in the most dangerous way possible with a strap to hold it straight and nearly crush ya mate when u try n flop it on
 
I've got a crane just want to know where to fasten it and do I need to buy more bolts to fasten through the stand into the engine
 
Basically no matter how you mount it its a tadge dodgy but even the cheap low grade studded rod (4.4) will hold it.
As a general rule 4.4 bolts would only be used on stuff that doesnt matter (building purlin brackets etc) and never normally on vehicles anywhere.
