Well the hippo is sold, had 3 very happy years with it. Time for an upgrade so now got an X5...

Thanks for all the help!!!!

you will be paying more out for fuel then now you have one of those my friend who owns a garage could not wait to get rid.

Don't know why after buying an X5 you'd be worrying about fuel economy, big BMW so why buy in first place if you spend your time watching the fuel gauge-bit like buying a RR v8

The twin turbo diesel is quite economical for a 280+ bhp motor..

Infact it's just better than a td4 hippo

Out of interest, what made you go for the X5 over something like a Discovery or a jeep grand Cherokee?
Both are easier to work on yourself. Or did you just want a BMW.
Best of luck with the new purchase.

I spent 8 weeks test driving and looking at many 4x4s

Disco was too agricultural, grand cherokee had awful rear leg room.

X5 is big, is very comfortable for the whole family, handles extremely well and is reasonably powerful.

Worse? perhaps not, but probably at least as bad with eye watering service costs.
All Dealerships pull ya pants down...Surley LR are no different?

Most charge £100 p/h or more Labour and most of the mechanics that work in them are thick as cow sh!t on a hot summers day[emoji2]..

The joke in Germany is if you want to view an X5 take a trip on the autobahn theres plenty at the side of the road

Mate of mine had a 4.4 v8 ran it up to 150 000 miles from New had its probs but he enjoyed it just changed it for a new range rover sport ( but he also has an Aston Martin convertible) doesn't matter what anyone else thinks you enjoy your new motor
Regards Trev .
