Just got a 110 defender and not that good with a spanner! I need a few things looking at. I would be pleased if you could recommend a good mechanic that knows defenders in the Lancaster (Lancashire) area.

Regarding your question, how well do you know Cockerham, where abouts in Lancaster are you.
I know the god of all Defender spanner men around these parts.

Main road into Cockerham from Lancaster, go past Thurnham Mill and after the sharp S bend (where you turn off to the parachute place) there is a garage on your right selling petrol. A hundred yards or so past there also on your right is another garage forecourt. If you have ever passed you will have noticed all sorts of discovery's and the odd series land rovers apparently abandonded on the forecourt. The owners name is Richard if you find him in he will talk the hind leg of you but knows his stuff and is very reasonable.
