I'm gonna put an isolator (discreetly) in the fuel pump lead instead of the ignition. My reasoning is that is some one hot wires is (AGAIN :mad:) then they'll get the engine turning over and there fore won't be looking for an isolator but it won't start so they'll assume its a non runner, get worried about the noise they're making and bugger off with out my Lump.

Off course this wouldn't be my first bright idea, so I thought I'd gather opinion.....
 
It is the first thing I do to any vehicle. There are also other surprises that get added but obviously they're a secret unless you come and try it out for yourself.
 
Wire up a pair of air horns to operate when the door is opened. You could have an isolator switch hidden on the bodywork to avoid disturbing neighbours. Theives will poop their diaper when they sound in the dead of night.
 
1st thing I do when I buy any motor, cut out switch on the ignition side. Engine turns over but will never start, thieving gits get bored and walk away.

so other than an aftermarket alarm or fog horn under the bonnet, is there a connection to break with an isolator that will allow the engine to turn over but not start so fooling the average tea leaf into believing the cars a non runner? some thing on the ecu?
 
Wire an air horn in to the ignition switch via an isolator, and mount it in the most inaccessible place you can find inside the vehicle, so that if anyone tries to start her up, not only does it wake up the neighbourhood, it also scares the crap out of the toerags!!

And yes, they do run off very quickly ... Generally holding their ears!! :D
 
Could you not wire it to the Starter Motor OR Alternator ?????

Switch Hidden some where to turn air horn OFF before you Fire her up, That way when anyone tries to turn the engine over with the switch in the ON position its going to be rather loud

yes mechanical pump but it still requires 12v to operate the solenoid. Disconnected the wire on my mates disco just after he first got it. He spent ages trying to work out why it wouldnt start:D:D
 
Interrupt both the pump and the ignition feed to thte starter motor

No battery flattening - not starting and even if they try to bypass the starter isolator you only get a flat battery!
 
just leave a small bear trap on the drivers seat with a 4 foot chain attatched to the seatbelt so they try running away from the landy lose a chunk of ass or ballox and all you have to do is get the rozzers to go round the local infirmarys asking for anyone who got bitten in the arse the previous night :D:D
 
but one of me fave isolator tricks has to be putting a brakelight pedal switch onto the clutch pedal inline woith the starter solenoid so you neeed the clutch fully depressed to turn the bugger over
 
£30 alarm will be my option on my 1986 90
one with motion sensors and voltage drop check one im looking at will also do basics ie cut live to pump and starter
 
I like the idea about a breakight switch, but been a auto I think I would have trouble with the clutch lol, might do it on the brakes would stop the missus trying to move it into silly places
 
not sure about the switch with the clutch. i always depress the clutch when i start the car anyway...and with so many cars these days needed to depress it as standard.

Saying that, in my old job I remember the bosses wife spending ages trying to start the tractor without putting her foot on the clutch and wondering why it wouldnt start. Oh how the rest of us laughed at the "poisoned dwarf"
 
then well go a step further use the clutch switch thing in unison with the reverse light switch so it has to be in reverse with the clutch down to start the fekker

if its an auto wire it via relay to the interior light ( needs to be on to start it ) or the courtesy light switch for the glove box ( needs to be open to start it )

could even be really cleffer and use the switch for either low range or diff lock needing to be engaged to start it as the last place anyone will look for an immobiliser is under the gearbox tunnel
