I have had one on for about a year now, probably done well over a 100 recoveries with it, all long pulls and with different weights up to some very stuck and very heavy patrols and landcruisers, waterlogged 110s and my disco out of some of the stickiest stuff i have ever seen.

It is a question asked frequently on here and everybody has a different opinion but i will stand by the tigershark as a good reliable budget winch. I carry a snatch block to double line if the 9500lb pull isnt enough but have very rarely used it.

Maintenance is the key, look after your winch and it will look after you, i oil my line regularly and wash out the drum and so on every few months and re-lay the line. The solenoid is the durite one piece type and allegedly waterproof and the wander lead is rubberised so durable too.

As for bumpers well the world is your oyster and all that buddy, choose a style you like fit the stainless fairlead roller you get with the winch and away you go, my only criticism would be the cables you get in the box are a bit borderline, but i already had 70mm cable fitted on mine from the last winch i had so just adapted the lugs to fit the solenoid and all was good, cost you a few quid for new cables if you wanted to upgrade them, but as they are supplied with the winch i am guessing they are man enough for the job it was simply that i had bigger already and as we all know big is best when it comes to power cable :D

Hi, I have a Terrafirma bumper on mine with a Superwinch tigershark 9500. Fitted it about had it fitted about 2 months ago. The winch has quality components for such a cheap price. Looks good on the front of my 90 too.

Check out my profile picture.:)

Did you buy a winch bumper mate or modify your own?

Make sure the bolt holes of the bumper your buying match up the footprint of the winch.
Then you need to consider plasma or steel cable and that's down to how big your pockets are. I'm now on plasma and wouldn't go back. But this then means you need a different fairlead.
Steel cable goes through a roller style fairlead whereas the plasma goes though a smooth alloy fairlead. Again, make sure these holes line up.

Happy winching:D

Super winch has the bit of info about steel or synthetic winch rope. not all winches will handle synthetic ropes

aye got to agree with the septic here, some winches produce too much heat in the drum area that will melt a synthetic rope, so make sure they say it is compatible if you are going down that route.

I personally am more than happy with the steel as i dont do comps and the extra speed doesnt bother me and im a real man that can carry a steel line up a hill and get the fook out of the way when winching so if it does snap then im safe enough.

I bought it off ebay, cost around £400. The winch cost £299 also from ebay. I'm laid up at the minute so its costing me a small fortune as I keep seeing lots of goodies. I have just bought a complete chequer plate tub liner too, waiting till I'm a bit fitter before I can fit it.

Bedspring:)
