New discs and pads in rear brakes tomorrow.
You could get a tune out of these discs on a gramophone
Metal to metal on drivers side:-\
about £60 for a set of disks and pads
You only said rear
All done......
Front is fine.
Rears replaced............
But.........
£70 for 2 discs.
£25 for pads
£45 Labour
£168 including VAT
The point is...
I used the garage I have used for years....ex Scoda dealers.
Unipart center. Not the best value for Landy parts.
I asked the owner if they could do my Landy....."Yes, no problem"
But, as the mechanic said "Four by fours!........I f****** hate em!"
Horses for courses I suppose.
Nothing against them, but will look elsewhere.......Famous Four, maybe.
However, all sorted. So alls well that ends well.
Depends on the brand. A quick look online suggests that Mintex or AP discs can be had for well under £20, whereas "performance" ones with grooves start at around about the price paid. Similarly with the pads - Lockheeds can be got for a little over a tenner. So I'm hoping that Dsalkeld has got premium brands for his money!
paddocks drilled and grooved discs are £36.50 a pair
FRC7329SD | Paddock Performance Brake Discs (pair) - solid - slotted and drilled
Lockheed or mintex pads are £12-£18
The £45 paid for the labour sounds reasonable. A non main dealer garage is around £48 + vat an hour around here.
