that roof on the green doesn't look like a 110 either. they had ribbed roofs; later had smooth.

also it has a wing vent and wing indicators, uk 110's don't. not sure about exports.

also, rear wiper and wash and the rear lamp with the spacer.

take more pics of the green interior and engine bay. :)

atm, it smells like a 200tdi on the wrong plate.. still looks great


My '87 One Ten's got a vent too. I think County's did. Same with the rear wiper/wash!

My 89 has a smooth roof. I guess it could have been charged but it came with history that mentioned a lot if things but not the roof.
 
That vin does suggest an 89 doesn't it!? Is the interior light door operated or do you need to use the rocker switch by your right knee?
 
Pic of interior, old decals and then a pic of the new decals I made with my vinyl cutter. I am 100% sure its an 89 but not sure of the 200tdi in there, maybe the 19j was replaced with a 200tdi.

When I bought it I wanted either the 200 0r 300tdi so was not concerned if it had a 19j until now that you guys pointed it out.

Good bit is, the 200 pulls strong with a stock set up, I was very surprised. Braking was impressive too for such a heavy vehicle.

Interior lights are turned on by toggle switch though its broken, no door contacts like my 97.

The local Landy guys think that the engine is original, one is a mechanic too and said the exported CSW came to the islands with 200's in them. I will try to get the history on this Landy from the MOT office here.

Not offended easily at all Blue and do like comments and ideas from others. I did the decals to cover the old ones and the old paint. The Landy was repainted by the previous owner and the lazy azz body work guy just masked the old decals and painted around them leaving the faded paint visible.

The old decals wont come off either, I used a heat gun and they wont budge. If it was sanded off when the Landy was being painted it would have been awesome but that was too hard for them to think of and do.
 
Not possible the 200tdi was launched with the new 'Defender' model late 1990. Unless yours was something like a very early press car?

Also I believe the steering wheel changed with the Defender launch too.

This Landy was owned by the local government and then by a very famous and extremely wealthy business man who actually bailed out the sugar industry from collapsing a while ago. I am really pumped to get more history of the vehicle.
 
Always nice to have a bit of history. Definitely not the original engine though, might be an original Defender 200 TDi ( as opposed to a Disco 200 ). Discos ( with 200 TDis ) were introduced in 1989, but Defenders didn't go into production until July 1990.
 
Upholstery looks like Moorland grey, which was introduced on the Defender ( I.e. 200tdi ). God this Landy's confused!
 
my 86 binnacle cover thingy doesn't have vents and the door cards are some flat 80's thing.. but new doors are common.

the dash lights might be different in mine too... or yours are just really clean compared to mine

it looks nice! only reason i brought it up was your friend importing it into the us. would hate for it to be crushed :)

your steering wheel cover looks legit :D

We know that crushed Landy video clip only too well.

My friend is a diplomat too but from the US. I would tell him to send all the Landy's documentation first for them to look at and get all that they need for verification before it leaves. We could send pics if needs be too, so hopefully get a green light before shipping.

I would feel bad for him though I shelled out a ton of cash for the 97 one so he can have the 89.

Steering wheel is the first thing that would have had to go, but since he wanted it I was leaving everything stock until it got there.
 
Well mates, the time flies by so fast, Jan 20th 2019 will make it 4 years since I bought this Landy, drove it to my garage to be rebuilt. After spending tens of thousands here along of importing parts and accessories from the UK, I have done a bit since then, this includes tons of accessories, wheels, electronics etc. I should have been updating this thread all along.

I have rebuilt the engine entirely, bored it it to 40 thou, ported and polished the head along with other modifications.

What happened with the green one? Did you work out what it was and did it go to the US?
 
I decided to use a MB variable vein turbo. This meant that I had to machine an adapter to convert from a T2 to the the GT2256V type. This took quite a bit of time and test fitting to get it right, ie., weeks.
