Hello all, im taking my 90 to Spain this year and would really welcome an air-conditioner, anyone know the best way to get one in, ive got a limited budget.

Been looking at caravan air-cons, not sure of the viability of it though?

any help will be good

I was looking into fisting aircon Last year. Cheapest is to fit one from a different defender but it is still a lot of money
 
I wouldn't bother, just drive around with the windows and front vent flaps open. I have done two trips around Morocco now without air con. after a couple of days you acclimatise to the heat, and it is not a probem. When moving you end up with a nice breeze from the front vents when stationary as long as not in direct sun you are used to the heat and are fine. I was camping so never had the harsh contrast of coming out from an A/c building, but this is the only time you will really notice it lacking in the vehicle after the first few days.
The best way to retrofit aircon is to take it form a newer model, but this is prohibitively expensive and for the same price you could probably buy a reasonable discovery which already has it fitted and drive that to spain!
 
I drove to spain in my XS 110 30C heat rarely used the AC if im honest. Was nice to have but wasnt often on.

Vents open constantly
 
we have an apartment in Murcia and its more about stopping the moans and groans from the family to be honest, the heat wont really bother me after a few minutes after we're on the move..
 
Didn't they used to fit a second skin on the roof with an air gap on desert landys to keep the heat off? Idea being that the sun heats the roof skin but air flowing over and under it stops the heat going into the vehicle itself - can't for the life of me remember what it was called but my friends dad 30 years ago had one with this an a option.
