Looks good but be prepared to stick another couple of grand in it depending how far you want to go. It's the small things that soon add up.

That looks not to bad for a vehicle of that age, good luck and let us know how you get on.:)

Didn’t want to push it...he said around 2k so I said tbh in the condition but it’s got half a tank of fuel so let’s say 1700,,,,he said ok I will seriously think tonight

That’s the only bit of rust really...this side and the other plus a small bit under window in the normal place

Unless you are very lucky, you will find more, a lot more. No-one can tell you exactly what is required or what the cost is going to be. But if you are prepared to take the risk and put money into it , then you are probably not going to lose any money. Providing the engine and Gbox, Tbox is in good condition

Cheers

Before buying it, get a small hammer and tap around the chassis, the footwells are an easyish repair, chassis can be a lot harder/more expensive.
For 1700 quid its worth at least that in parts, 200tdi def engines are an easy 800/1000.

Front of each outside they can holes, easy fix, and of course everything rear axle backwards, slight bulging just over the rea axle isnt the end of the world but means theres trouble ahead, maybe many years but its coming!

Buy it! And please, pleases keep the decals! Original looking early Defenders/Nineties/OneTens are getting rarer and rarer.

Looks like an original 200 tdi.
If the engine runs its a no brainer at that price. Even if it ends up needing a new chassis and bulkhead I don't think you'll lose on it.

Not bad for the price, but expect it to need a lot of welding. It's not a CSW, looks like a hard top with windows added at some stage. The real value is in the engine, if it runs and sounds OK it could be worth £500 on its own. I'd have a good look at the axles - some of the early defenders suffered from poor axle steel.

So he's said he wants 1900 for it but managed to get it for 1850...I love the side stickers but I want it re painted by my mate....is it a bad thing to re add new ones or is this better left alone and just clean it and maybe a t-cut...and as we turned the key to start I swear it didn't even do a full rotation before it fired up and it's only been started once 3months ago and it was parked upvjust over a year ago...I was in shock!

Sounds like a goon one. Bit of tlc. Itll be nice. Once you get it get some security on it. .the bastards will nick it.

Ye I will I was looking on eBay and there seems to be a lot of them pedal locks that cover all the pedals? Are they any good there about £55+

200tdi always start like that, really good engine, crude as fcuk but excellent machines, way tougher than the later effeminate 300.

You can do what you like to it paint wise it is after all your car, but once you have owned it a while and noticed the few 90/110/defenders in your area you will start to appreciate early cars do look kind of neat with their stickers etc and that in years to come people will want the original ones over the lifted/fat tyres off road prepped ones.

I would put paint way down the list of things to do until you have a rust free sorted car.
