I guess 'snow' would be the area to compromise on as we get very little of it, so a good on/off-road tyre would be best, albeit with a leaning towards some ability in the snow too!!
A good mud tyre will be at best average on road, Muds have large spaces between the tread blocks so you get very little rubber on the road when on tarmac. You've really go to decide. If you want road performance too, then an A/T tyre is the most aggressive you can go for. Compromise the road handling and buy a mud tyre.

I have a set of colways... fit and run without modifying the wheel arches and have never let me down. (The only times I got stuck were due to driver error not the tyres). Actually thought about getting more aggressive off road tyres but Spitfiremk1 asked the simple question... "When did they let you down?", since I couldnt answer him I guess the answer was obvious.

Plus at £240 for all four corners the price is right too!

Wilthire whens your next comp on? I fancy bringing a little 80 inch with cart springs and puny 34 inch tyres I fancy a go against you guys I think the weight advantage and skinny tyres will help alot when are you doing a comp up my way?

Ryder - never heard of Colways before! How are they on the road and in the snow? Are they an A/T or M/T tyre?

Cheers!

Coleways copied other treads much like Fedima and Insa turbo copied other tread patters. Coleway are very cheap some say too cheap but they seem to be okay for the money. I certainly wouldn't go fitting BFG's only to rip one on some flint at a P&P or Wales trip cos that'll get expensive!

Ryder, you got a link for those Conway tyres? What size you running? I cant find a 235/85R16..

I'm looking for good snow tyres and just want to compare a few..insa seem to be fave at mo..

Fanks bastid..er beasty...not lazy, looked at tyremonkey and camskill amongst others..that internets quite a big place innit!

The only thing i will say about my tyres is that one of them seems to have worn unevenly. I dont mean tracking wise... I mean it is not circular any more.... the ensuing wheel wobble was a bastid!
