I have been working out my cable routes for the timer/relay and I am unsure about the feed to terminal 30 from the battery.
Please do i take this direct from the battery?.On the diagram it looks like that.

My solenoid is on top of the starter motor and am unsure how i would get to that to wire it up if it has to go on this.

On my wiring diagram in the green LR manual it shows two brown wires on the ignition switch, one is heavy duty cable. switch is not marked with numbers.
I could piggy back a connector on this i thought.
Direct battery connections seems most direct.
Please can you advise me sorry to ask probably dumb questions ,want to get it right...thank you

The Glencoyne 200Di conversion website suggests you connect to the starter solenoid and that's a better option than direct to the battery, which I guess is moved to under the passenger seat in your Landy. You can use a ring terminal on the back of the starter solenoid & make sure it's all clean and tight and not likely to touch the block/chassis when you're done. I don't have a tdi, so I'm not sure how easy it is to get to the back of the starter - on the series 2.25 engine it's not too bad but on the tdi it might be easier from underneath.

Thank you.
My battery is under the seat you are right.I will get underneath and have a look.Access from the top is very hard.I assume it will have two terminals ?
It should be a brown wire i think. My wiring is bit of a pickle.I do have a relay unit in the middle auxiliary panel of the dash with red/white wires and one of these wires goes down to the starter area.I will focus on the starter solenoid.

If using the timer relay , ignition live which is white is what you want moden glow plugs are self regulating so current drops as they heat up max current I measured on mine was 38A peak quickly dropping off.Maybe my calculated value on the drawing is wrong.

On the tdi, the solenoid is part of the starter motor itself (it's a pre-engaged starter, not the same as the inertia type on a petrol Series that has a separate solenoid). So you should find a terminal post on the starter with a heavy duty feed from the battery and two brown wires, one goes to the alternator and one to the fusebox. This is where you connect to terminal 30 on the glowplug relay. There will also be a spade terminal on the starter with a white/red wire that goes to the ignition switch.
As Blackburn said, you'll also need to connect the glowplug relay to the ignition live (white wire). You should have a feed to the stop solenoid on the tdi injection pump that you can use for this.

Ignition live switches the glow plugs on , signal supply to starter solenoid White / red initiates the time to off as on discovery and most modern engines glow plugs are kept powered for a short duration after start.
I have checked mine by putting a bulb on glowplug supply and the power goes off within 2 seconds after start , maybe the relay is super clever and looks at the current flowing through the glow plugs as well , modern glow plugs have twin coils and with some wizardry are self regulating ie when they get hot the current reduces [Bosch website has a good right up on this]
Stop solenoid on my engine is white brown believe ex ignition coil feed.
