Hi people I'm new to discovery's but very happy now I own one the only problem that's confusing me is that the glowplugs won't work so far I've replaced the relay and checked all fuses....now I'm U sure if theirs another delay im missing or what the relay has got a perminate 12v to it, but that's all. Could someone shed some light on what I'm missing on and the easiest way to fix it.

Many thanks Steve

Are you getting 12v to glow plugs when you turn the ignition on? If you are getting 12v then you just need new plugs.

Pull one of the middle 2 as they are the most accessible and connect it directly to the battery for 5 seconds to test it. Should be glowing red hot so hold it using pliers just in case!

I've just replaced all 4 of mine, very easy jub if you soak them in plus-gas several times over a few days before you change them.

Assuming that the new relay is working then it can only be a break in either the 'trigger' wire from the ignition or the earth to coil in the relay.

Might still be worth testing the operation of the relay though.

Check the block connector that plugs into relay. My connectors were covered in green kak. Had to get a nail file on them to make a good connection.

at risk of pointing out the obvious....you do know there is a timer aand the 12v only goes to the plugs for around 10 secs before it switches off? on mine i need to wait for 5 secs after the light goes out on the dash before starting it to give the plugs enough time to get hot....
