Hi everyone,

I need new glow plugs as sometimes the car won't start however, I took my car to my mechanic today and he says that they're all rusted in place and won't budge. He didn't want to risk snapping any so we didn't proceed any further. He has recommended to me another garage but has said that the bill can run to four figures which of course I'd like to avoid.

Has anyone overcome this problem before? Is there any good advice out there?

Many thanks,

JH

Plenty have had this issue...it is very common...

Many advocate the use the penetrating fluid and plenty of it and leaving it to soak in overnight, then reapply and leave that to soak in...repeat a few times, then get the engine warm so the head/block warm up and expand...this may loosen them enough to get them out...but yes, they are very fragile and snap easily, then you are in a world of hurt!

If its not starting in this warm weather then it can't be your glow plugs

Shouldn't even need then till the weather gets cold

Ohh if its not the plugs, what might it be?

Thank you for the replies guys!
Weak Secondary Fuel Pump possibly...this is mounted on the side of the fuel tank under an inspection flap!
