hiya everyone i,m trying to sort out my bad starting problem(2.5dse)cold and warm it takes 3 cycles of the glow plugs?heater relay is new, glow plugs are new-but don,t now the make, and there,s a non return valve in the feed pipe.i,m going to check leak off pipes tommorow along with glow plugs,i,ve heard cheap ones can give you grief, but can anyone tell me the great big lump of metal sitting over the top of the g/plugs does it carry just air.is there anything to look out for if removing this.cheers craig:)

I assume you mean the inlet manifold?

It's pretty straight forward to remove. Just make sure you have new gaskets for where it mates to the head.

If you use 1/4" drive sockers and a 12mm long reach socket, got small dainty hands etc etc you can do whilst it's in place.

I haven't so I removed it and did them without issue. Magnet probe is ideal to make sure you dont drop the 8mm nuts.

Basically it's remove piping across top of engine, remove egr pipe from side of EGR 13mm I think. Remove all the pipes from underneath and the air temp (I think) sensor plug. Then remove all the inlet nuts 12 of 13mm again (from memory), remove the two steady bars thathold manifold to oil filter housing (Or that area) then gently wiggle the manifold up around the leak off pipes.
Quite easy to do in approx 30 minutes. Then remove glow plugs!:)
