Pretty certain the switch is built into the latch mechanism.

Yes first thing I did door is fully operational windows, locking etc message came up about 2 miles from starting journey now it's almost immediately on starting.

The switch is built into the latch assembly....first port of call would be to check the wiring from B pillar into door...and then trace from there to the latch and check for chaffing etc.

As the others have said - but if it still comes up then its probably an issue in the latch. It could be that when it was frozen shut, and then subsequently opened (even after a bit of thawing) that one of the plastic components inside has gone snap and not operating the microswitch - or maybe the microswitch has failed.

The rear doors only have the one microswitch, which on later models are a blue and black wire coming from the latch. As a temporary measure, if these are connected together, then it will make the vehicle think the door is closed - permanently. Which might be OK as a temporary fix, but be aware that opening that door would then not trigger the internal lights, inhibit the EAS, or trigger the alarm if that door is broken into, as the vehicle wouldn't detect the door being opened.
