The beast or boat or defender - whatever you want to call it isn't starting.

Basicly after filling it with water! I got it all out and started like a dream to then stupidly find out whoops fuel full of water! So it cut out and couldn't start it then checked to find that! Doh! Anyway now I have drained the water Out etc and been trying to turn it over with diesel in it which it's Ment to have haha! Any ideas of making the thing fire to flush out what's in it? I no it will turn over and over then fire at some point but battery won't last log enough and needs charging as all it's doing it turning over for ages so it's draining it alot

If you could help that would be ace! Cheers in advance guys!

All I wanna do is start it to no it starts then can move it onto my drive where it's goin to have every filer and oil
Changed on it.

So easy start on the air filter
You reckon will start it?

I've seen aa vans spray it straight down the air intake before the air filter on a diesel once and the can actually ran off it for about a minute till it sucked some fuel through, either that or wack battery on charge and change fuel filter, prime the lift pump with the actuator on the side of it and keep turning the key

I would change the filter and prime the system as watery diesel prob still in the pipes and pump, dont use easy start

So the prim is on the side of the fuel filter! That's fair idea guys. Hamsterberg can I ask why u think don't easy start it?

Dont know where lift pump is on yours, dont like easy start, start using it and the motor winds up depending on it, we got a fork lift that wont start without it, use to muck and it knocks like fook
Just do it properly is my advice

Easy start is considered generally bad for engines because it builds up inside the combustion chambers, clogging up piston rings and affecting compression - thus the engine will eventually become reliant on easy-start to be able to get going, often called the engine becoming 'addicted' to it.

I want to donit properly and it's a good engine! I agree with what your saying but with a new Born kid it's annoying as ****!!

If I can get it started and on the drive it means Its set ready for when I'm free to do it!

Prim is on side of the lift pump mate follow fuel lines from filter to engine and your looking for an object with a lever on the side

Thanks fella!

Sorry to vent off - baby's becoming bit hard work 6 days a week working now this! Sort of end of my tether! Sure dads here no what I mean!

Right so follow line to engine and look for a lever!

Hi mate you could try redex in your fuel had a similar problem and that helped me... also couple of people have sugested changing fuel filter, just thought i would say that if you had a decent amount of water go through your fuel filter then you stand litle chance of gettin it started until u change it

Given what you have put your engine and battery through, how is your battery charge?
The battery needs to have a decent charge and cranking capacity. Have you tried charging and/or jump starting?

Just re-read initial posts, you have been re-charging battery, I would only add that you should have the patience to give it a really good charge and try again! Good Luck!

At the very least you need to undo the exit union on the filter and pump enough fuel through to flush it clean (still needs changing) bearing in mind it holds something like 3/4 pint then crack the injector pipes and crank over to clear injector pump and pipes. Nip them back up and with luck she'll fire up

Thanks guys much appreciated! I have a new filter here I shall swap it tomorrow and pump some through fit new filter prim her up and cross my fingers haha!

Replying to your post. Tonight I felt patients is the way so I took the battery off and is in the garage on a controlled full charge!
