Hi Guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle here.
I have purchased a Defender Wolf 110 LHD and had it shipped to my rural house in Slovakia thinking I could register it there with the purple military release D-DISC-O form.
However that is not possible and I need the V5 to do that. Is there a way to get a V5 somehow for the vehicle that Wolf that's already in Slovakia and I only have the MOD release form?

It will be a great help if you can advice on this.

Warm regards Michal

Hi Michal, I had to road reg one of my tractors last year. There is a DVLA form for this, sorry ,I don't remember the No, I completed this then sent pictures of the VIN number and proof of purchase along with this. To be on the safe side I also sent pics of the engine, chassis and axle serial Nos, basically, any stamped number I could find!!

Thanks. That's some positive news. I assume there were some payments as well. Will look into that and see if I can find this form. If you have any more advice please let me now. Best Michal

You need form V55/5 which is for first registration of a used vehicle which you can download online...you must have a UK address for this as the notes you download will explain there is a cost £55...you will want to fill in a SORN declaration at the same time..hopefully they wont want to inspect it...good luck...

just re-read rhat.

okay so insurance can be swerved, they made me insure mine when I did it (that was 10 years ago mine!) MOT if applicable would mean you don’t need the MOT if the vehicle is exempt, but if it isn’t then it would meet an MOT.

Either way I think the OP is going to struggle to register a vehicle in Slovenia, that he brought in the UK, that isn’t mot’d or registered in the UK.

Easiest might be to trailer it back to the UK, mot it, register it, then export it to Slovenia and re-register it there

@flat I am matriculating the 101 here in Portugal it's not in my name but bought it from a friend got all the paperwork sorted but waiting for 1 more to get plates...but I have been looking into reg in my name under V62 but it has an export marker on it thats 15yrs out of date hence the 4yrs papertrail....
So I would suggest OP does what I did get an agent...mine got a CoC from Landrover in Portugal then took all docs to local licencing dept who then issued forms to mot it etc...might work in Slovakia...

Tried that already Jaguar Land Rover could not give me a CoC here as the vehicle was military/ modified :( Also might have export mark as took it to Slovakia in December just before Brexit. In Slovakia they have not been helpful at all and without a CoC or V5 it won't pass originality.
So I am kind of screwed. :(

It wont have an export marker on it as it wasnt reg with DVLA...
Understand the modified as my 101 was only built for MOD and only 2460 were actually built...
Are you using an agent or doing it yourself...
I am sure there will be someone supplying MOT's for expats in Slovakia there is here (dont ask me how I know says a partner in a garage here)...lol

The other issue is trying to bring it back into the UK.
If it has an MOD release form that *may* satisfy customs that you aren’t reimporting it.

you could say you took it to slovakia to work on and restore at your families farm or whatever, and now you are coming back to your UK address.

Price up getting it transported back, or towing it back and work out what to do cost wise.
What type of Land Rover is it? A Wolf?

NOVA form should sort that as he has conformation he owns it due to purchase receipt...

Hi Yes, It is Defender wolf 110 currently in Martin Slovakia and I live in London.

Thanks

Trailer it back, mot and register then no problems.

only issue is it wouldn’t be low emissions compliant so wouldn’t be able to go inside the congestion zone - not under its own steam anyway
