ok as we speak i am trying to refit the fan belt tensioner, after replacing the tensioner wheel bearing, which didn't go too badly, the part i am having problems with is getting the wheel back on the tensioner, i presume the recess/hole in the casing bhind the tensioner has to mate with the lug on the back of the tensioner

i am not sure if i have the wrong belt, but the old one doesn't seem much different, just a tiny bit longer, (through wear i presume) do you have to lever the tensioner up with something, it does seem very tricky, i'm sure one of you guys knows an easier way compared with what i am trying.

A prompt reply would be very grateful on my part, as it's friggin freezing outside

size 15 spanner (i think) on the wheel end of the tensioner and turn anti-clockwise it will pull it up - be stiff though!

i'll fit the wheel and give it a go, gonne get SWMBO to push the belt under when i lift it, already broke my finger i think so if more machanical injuries occur, then so be it...lol

15mm socket and your longest socket driver or breaker bar, then lever anti clockwise.

The spring is strong so you need to push hard !!!!!

Thanks chaps, that worked an absolute treat, all done now, and no annoying squeak when cold, plus new belt...this forum is amazing :D
