Have got Mike from dynachip calling in the morning to remap my td5 90, then go and treat myself to a mig welder (thanks for all the advise) then get in some lanes in the evening to check out the difference. If its as good as everyone on here says then i'll be as happy as a dog with two dicks.

using terms only found in a ladybird book of Landrover mechanics- what is re-mapping and a chip and what does it do and why ?

modern engines use sensors that give ecu info for it to alter fueling, timing against pre written program or map ,you can alter this to get better performance ,altering sensor values to give more more from map would be chipping altering map would be mapping

often both ,car manufacturers have to build vehicle to meet emission legislation and to suit majority of uses ,this often means that engine isnt set to its optimum ,so you can get yours done but depends what your after as you can go all the way to allout power and poor economy ,to a small increase in both

have no intention or ability to get it done ( probably should get all the things that need fixing done first before worrying too much about performance ) but at least I know what it means now- thank you :)
