What's the easiest and cheapest way of getting a spare key, with remote, for our 2000 TD5?

Easiest, means going to your local LR main dealer and purchasing one from them complete, job done.
Cheapest, means getting a key blank and getting it cut then getting a second hand fob and getting that programmed.

Thanks guys. What is needed to programme it to the car?

The fob has a code, we'll the EPROM chip does, you will need that to be attached, no code the fob is just scrap, as well if your lucky the code also in bar code form as some programmers have bar code readers.

It depends on whether the key fob is brand new or not.

Brand new - comes with bar code and you can use Nano Evo or Hawkeye to program the key to the car;

Second-hand - you need a Nano Evo to program the key fob to the car if the bar code is not available.

Hope that helps,

Dave

i just had a blank key cut without the fob it does work but cant immobilise the vehicle a nanocom will reprograme the new fob as you have to push the button so its picks up the signal

Thanks chaps.

There are new ones on e-bay for about £35-00, so I think I will go for one of those and then try to find a friendly Discovery owner with Nanocom to program it.

Hi there, can you provide an Ebay link to these? I've just had a look but couldn't find any.

Sorry, my mistake. Just looked at it again and they are a new case and blade with a used remote circuit board fitted inside. However, I guess one will do the job.
