Hi,

I havent been on here for a while now but I want to get back into Landrovers again.
3 years ago I bought a 200tdi fully done up 200tdi for 1250, I broke the rear diff within 10 hours of owning. Problem was that I lost all drive through this because the guy I bought it off forgot to mention that the right hand UJ was in pieces so he put it in difflock and unhooked the H-Lo lever. So after a 2nd hand front hub assembly and a rear diff I was back on the road and absolutely loved it :5bauto:

Here a picture of it:

Unfortunately a mate of mine offered me a 944 for cheap so I sold the landy and got the porsche.
Ever since I got even more into Porsches and got a 968 CS now but I still regret selling the Landy very much.

Luckily I am living in Germany now and over here its common practice to have a summer-car and a winter-car. So I thought a done up Disco would be perfect for the winter over here and decided I need to get one again.

This is my disco of choice:

Land Rover Discovery 300 Tdi 5dr Diesel Station Wagon 2.5

I ll be flying over to buy it next Thursday and I was just wondering if you guys could spot some things to look out for from the pictures and the description.

Im not looking for a buying guide as I ve read them and I generally know where to look for rust on these.

I ve also spoken to the seller and he said its leaking a little oil from the sump, the rear windows dont work and one of the rear doors sometimes only opens from the inside.
The sump is just a case of taking it off, cleaning the seurfaces, putting sealant on it and sticking it back on. Might aswell put new oil in it while im at it.
From what I remember the rear windows and doorhandle is a common issue and im not to bothered about those.

Looking forward to hear what you guys think about.

Regards and greeting from zhe fatherland

Looks tidy. An improvement on the first one, I think! Should be able to cope with those naughty Deutsche winters, and all that sauwetter. Have fun.

Well that one looks like a tonka toy, but because its going sausage side I can't see a problem with it.

As for your last one, sitting here with a hangover after a few pints of wife beater last night it almost made me vom.

Anyway, welcome back to Disco's.

yes definitely an improvement on the first one which was more of a fun car as I didnt need a daily back then but I thought its a good idea to get a tidy one this time if its going to be my daily for the winter.

HAHAHA! Thank you. Yes the colour of my first one was not to everyones taste however I cant say I disliked it as it stood out. Than one was pretty rough with no carpets and mud everywhere.

Yes the 300 is a bit expensive but its pretty much exactly what I want so I bought it on ebay buy it now for 2700 (standard procedure: BUY NOW, Testdrive later) and the owner is putting a new MOT on it before I pick it up. The problem with buying from germany is that not every seller is kean on oversea buyers and the good trucks which are cheap are usually snapped up before I would get there :(
I thought about coming over to the UK for a week and hoping the right one will come up during this time and I could snap one up cheap but then I might not find the right one and end up buying one that hasent got the spec I want with a big lift and huge tyres so I ll rather pay a bit more and dont have to take a chance.

Also the missus is coming over with me and we are making a little road trip out of it, staying in liverpool for a night, then down to oxford to visit some friends, then to ramsgate for a night, get the ferry in dover, then brugge for a night onto colonge, to my parents house in germany and then back home to stuttgart woop woop :5bparty:

I just hope this truck is going to make the 1000 miles back but the seller seem pretty confident that it will (probably cause he wants to see the back of it)

Nice pretty pictures but where are the pictures of the underneath, interior, engine bay etc?

Seems pricey, If it was in very good condition and with much fewer miles then maybe.

But hard to say without actally seeing it in the flesh.
