Hi, I'm new to this game and have just recently bought a 89 3dr discovery1 that has some well worn general grabber's on. I'm going to be running it thro the winter as my other project has got a bit behind so will need to stick some new tyres on it. Everything on it is stil pretty stock so is running 235/70r16s and it hasn't been lifted yet.

I have been looking around and ideally could do with some AT tyres as it will be used both on and off road, towing, and pretty much everything else you can use a discovery for.

I have come accross these insas turbo ranger AT that seem massively cheaper than the GG or the BFG's but i was wondering if anyone had tried them and are they any good?

Any other recommendations or advice is much appreciated.

Thanks :D

I have Insa Turbo AT's.. remoulds but not as we know it.

I reckon I am about 15,000 in and they still look in great nick.

I've done about 25k on my Insa Traction Tracks and they still look beefy as fook. Highly recoommend. Espeically at about £80 each

Cheers for the info so far. I've heard the insas are remoulds but i also know remoulds have come on well over the last few years so was wondering if they were worth a shout.

1pw?????

Cheers!

i've got general grabbers love them to death but no good for serious trialing, but generally good offroad :) done about 5000 iles with them and they have barely worn at all, probably less than 1mm would defenately recommend them, but hearing some of the results for the insa's they sound pretty good too ??

I have the insa turbo rangers IMO there just as good as any AT tyres out there.

They have been used off road and laining I would get them again.

Hi,

I've got General AT2's on mine and they are well over 18k miles and still have a good bit of tread on them. They also have ridges in the base of the treads and reading other posts about them this helps in snow etc.
The down side is that they dont seemt to offer them in 235/70 R16 anymore. I saw a post saying this was due to EU noise rules!

But I think they offer them in other sizes so maybe an upsize would work on your rims?

But failing that maybe see if you can find others that have these ridges. (and if you do let me know;))

If you check the 'what size tyre can I fit' sticky there is a website that allows you to check tyre dimensions and max tyre size for your rim width.

Ooooooh, thats cool thankyou. Will keep an eye out for those little ridges and have a quick read through the post at the top, see if i can increase the choice of tyres. My mate said the AT2's were very good but were being replaced by the grabber AT's which seem a bit more road based.

Cheers!
