Hi all,

My new 16" wheels and 255/65x16 General Grabber AT's arrived yesterday and have been fitted today. Only done about 100 miles but first impressions are looking good.
The ride comfort on the 16" wheels is much better than the 18" and with regard to the tyres, steering feel has improved with no wandering or tram
lining, feels more direct and no wobbles or kickback.
No noticeable road noise to speak of and the tyres give the car a more chuncky aggressive look.
I know it is early days and my old 18" Scorpions were half worn and getting on a bit so perhaps not a completely fair comparison.
Thanks to all who posted advise and helped me make my choice of wheels and tyres, it is much appreciated.
I will update as the miles increase and see if my initial impressions are sustained.
If I can work out how to post pics I will put a couple up !!!

Cheers all.......:5bcheers2:

how much did you pay ? get some pics up be interested to see

Tyres were £111 each including VAT and delivery. 4x4 tyres.com
Will have a go at pictures after Tea, thanks for the info on how to.

Hi just fitted a full set of General Grabber's AT all round 255/60/18's.

I have to do some serious off roading at the weekends as I work in the UK festival industry. Are these tires up to the job of driving through deep mud?

I had a previous P38 on which I didn't even look at what tires where on it and with that I am not kidding when I tell you that I've overtaken a snow plow clearing 2 foot of serious mud on a sight that health and safety wanted to close but the police wouldn't let them as there was nowhere else for the public to go. And I never got stuck- ever. My new P38 came with the Pirellie scorpion zeros and i got stuck on everything!

SO: Anybody put then NEW AT's through their paces yet in something serious?

Now done a few thousand miles and still very impressed with these tyres.
Have been off road around my mates farm which ranges from stone tracks to very soft and boggy fields with no traction problems.
Unless the vehicle grounds out the diffs I can't see you having a problem.

The GG ATs are quite simply the best allrounders I've ever used, superb in the snow, superb in the wet on tarmac, more than acceptable dry tarmac performance and astonishingly good on mud for a non-specialist mud tyre and they're nice and quiet toboot - can't fault them.

Are they much different to the Grabber AT2's?

I have had a set of the AT2's now for 3 years and I can't knock them both on road (all conditions) and off road especially after using the Scorpions.

Got mine for £114.00 each and that was including P&P to Portugal from the UK.

I've been running 255/60 18 General Grabber ATs on my D2 for the last month or so and can't fault them as an all terrain tyre, absolutely fantastic on and off the road, wet or dry ;)

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to the mud-season oh er.. sorry festival season. Will post a review when I've had some proper General Grabber AT experience.

For the record it's 2001 P38 vogue: no substitute to a V8.

(just say no to Icons)

Had a set of grabber AT2 fitted £400 for a set of five, fitted and balanced from quickfit. played ats, quickfit and national tyres off against one another to get the best price.:):)

Hi spoke to 4x4 who advised me that General grabbers in 275/70/18's don't ride well on the tarmak and will rub on tight turns. He also mentioned that in the event of air suspension failure the RR will be stuck as tires will be resting in the wheel arches... Anybody had any experience as i think the above mentioned size would look good, filling the wheel arch.

In the end I fitted the 255/60/18 which look disappointing but stick to the RR spec
