hi gents;
i have noticed that the purge valve in my rangie is different when it comes to piping than onother rangie that i saw.
the purge valve is operating and pulsating but it seems it isn't sucking enough thus resulting in petrol smell evaporating from the fuel cap,i have checked the plastic valve 2 ways valve that fumes pass through to reach the canister,as well as i have removed the pipe from the canister marked "tank" and defo there is petrol fumes there,that leaves me with not enough suction from the purge valve.
how can i determine a slow pulsating valve?it ticks 2 ticks per second,is it normal or it must tick faster?do i have a different problem?a faulty petrol cap?defo there is a lot of hissing when i release the cap,not vacuum.and petrol fumes are evident in the canister,so the system is operating normaly but is it comon that vapors must escape a little from the fuel cap also?i have removed the filler neck no leaking is evident,everything seems sealed.i have no purge valve faults what so ever.
Do all models classic and discovery have an interchangeable purge valve that can be fitted on p38?i think mine isn't the one of the p38,the pipe going from the valve to the plenum i mean.

That was 13 years ago!

I think it needs a good run to purge the canister.
