Hi All not needed to ask a question for some time but in need of guidance now.
Td5 series 2 manual gearshift appears to be getting tight.
Clutch clearance is good but as transmission warms up the gearshift gets tight. Not yet undriveable but boss is driving her today so I will get told its faulty .
Any advice
Thanks
Mick

Yep... mine did the same. Replace that bush with a genuine one.... change the oil and the bias plate and springs whilst you are there. Mine used to stiffen up when the gearbox warmed up.

Thanks gents
Can this all be done in car or do you have to remove transmission? Watched the bias plate video but he didn't remove the whole unit .

Can be done with gearbox in situ... I'll post up a picture of the gearstick when I get the chance. Have a spare gearbox in the garage. Just another 4 bolts and the whole gear lever pulls out from memory.

Mine does the same on long journeys. I used to let some oil run down the gear stick and this helped, but Iā€™m going to have to do the nylon bush at some point.

Changed the yolk on mine along with new bias plate, gear selection seems smoother. Seems strange as I have used with broken bias plate for yearsšŸ˜Š. Just the long journey to go now so fingers crossed.

Next stop is losing all gears and leaving you stuck somewhere.
Leave it a bit longer for the full experience šŸ¤£

Being the honest person I am it came up in conversation over dinner .
Women can be cruel .
Parts now ordered

Ok now taken gearshift apart .I can see no obvious fault and no real wear signs in the gearshift . Any further advice ? Seems strange it only effects 4th and reverse
