hi i've got a 2002 td4 freelander and the gear stick seems very loose it goes up the gears ok but coming down its a pain in the backside any ideas would be great cheers kab1

Hi Kab

It could be gear selector rod wear, or clutch wear even though it feels ok going up the gears. Check the rods, from under the car, for slackness in the rod joints.

hi crockett been under the car and the linkage seems really loose(wobbly)just wondering what the next step would be cheers

You can replace the linkage, I'd look at that first

just had a new linkage fitted but now it wont go into 3rd gear............?

Start there then, the linkage probably needs resetting.

Any ball joints or connector bushes also need replacing..
.me thinks...... Although to late to get under mine to have a look

changed linkage and that pin etc and now been told theres a problem with gear box it went in 3rd gear with wobbly linkage so dont know if some ones pulling my leg
