Hi I have brought a new cross member, but it is 5mm too long, is there an easy way to install it?

you jack the chassis rails apart enough to fit the cross member

Put some timber top and bottom of the jack to spread the pressure and avoid any damage.
Here's mine before it went in. Way too big, sat across the rails.
Here it is going in. I remember the rails creaking a bit as I jacked them apart!
With timbers either end of the jack, the jack to hold and pump, I had to use the trolley jack to hold the cross member in place and slowly jacked it in as the rails opened.

Thanks, i managed to get it fitted
Did you use a bottle jack?

Yes I used a 2 ton bottle jack, worked perfectly
