Hi All, I have changed the grarbox and clutch on my discovery 300tdi. After start up the gears would not engage. I narrowed this down to clutch drag after eliminating at other possibilities I started to remove the gearbox again. Transfer box removed, the gearbox bell housing slide's back about 10mm then stops. Using crow bars I managed to get it to slide back about 25mm before springing back. It seams like the gearbox input shaft it stuck in the clutch plate. Has anybody had this issue before?. it's got me stumped, thanks in advance

Have you assembled the clutch arm incorrectly, and it’s hooked up in the release mechanism, did you lightly grease the splines or assemble dry, have you fitted the clutch plate the right way round ?

Did you fit a new spigot shaft flywheel bearing? I once had a bearing stick on the shaft, (not Land Rover) I had to undo all the pressure plate bolts and pull the clutch out with the box.

The clutch arm was assembled correctly, checked it before I bolted it back on. I was removing the box again to check is I had fitter the clutch plate the right way round, as I did this by torch light late at night. I would think the clutch the wrong way round would explained the clutch drag, but not the box not coming off
