my work collegue has a td5 discovery 2 (2004) and is having gearbox problems.

when it gets hot the gearbox gets very stiff.
the oil has been checked and it will not readily go back in to the nuetral position....

any ideas gang ?

Start with an oil change, is it same running as without the engine on? if not then clutch may not be releasing fully.

Hi Danny , I thought I was the only person to have this problem Mine is on a 200tdi so may be a different problem to yours but I changed the oil on mine and then again after another 1000 miles and the problem ceased.

PS DO USE THE CORRECT OIL obvious but you would be amazed !!!!

Can I post a gearbox query here?
Series 2 2004 TD5 Auto when selecting drive,both sport and normal green lights come on and flash.
Intermittent and a pain in the proverbial.
Any ideas?
