Stripping my 109 for its transformation today and noticed an oblong brass like plate screwed onto the bellhousing, it about 3x2 with FRC2000Rstamped into it, then underneath that B20273. My friends dad has a s11 lightweight with a similar plate on his box. They are a bit crude and home made but mines is from wales and his lightweight is from scotland so could they just be reconned gearboxes
help
Dave

yes there reconditioners plate frc2000 is part number of box r means recon the other the number is there serial numer

thanx for that, any idea what year or series my box is, i,m going to put a 200tdi in it with coil sprung defender axles and rather large rubber(its a pick up and im putting a harvey frost crane on the back, going for the hot wheels look) so i,m hoping its a s11a, i no, long shot but we have to live in hope eh, thanx again
Dave

it should be by the plate series 3 suffix d which is best of series boxes, but may well have been rebuilt otherwise

isnt the 2a box stronger ?, i no the 3 box is all syncro but with the tdi and big tyres i want the strongest box i can get using the series 4 wheel drive

Some say it is but dont know of any cases of Tdi power being to much for either box......halfshafts go well before box takes too much

yea but i,m using defender axel,s so think my gearbox could be the weakest link, just trying to plan ahead
