Hi,all the oil has leaked out of my gearbox(I think),truck is a 2003 Td5 auto, when I trailored it to the main dealer there was no drive at all in any gear, forward or reverse.I'd just like to know,am I looking at a new gearbox?:( or could itbe something less serious.
Thanks in advance.
Marc.

What indication did you get that all the oil has leaked out of the gearbox?
Was a large puddle on show or any lights on the dash illuminated?
I need more details although it could be as simple as a cable from the gearlever to the control for the auto box..

Yes,large puddle of oil on floor, then when I tried to put it on the trailor it mooved a short distance in reverse with lots of revs, then nothing:confused: .I'm thinking along the lines of,no oil will stop the torque converter from engaging???Is that possible?

Did you happen to notice where exactly it came from? As I have heard of plenty of pipes rubbing on the clamp and moving about until a leak develops then eventually emptying the gearbox. The clamp should hold the pipes tight and I check mine regularly. And yes if there is no oil in the Torque converter you will have no drive. Basically first you need to see where you have a leak.

As far as I could see,it was coming from somewhere on top of the gearbox,I could'nt see any pipes or a definate source of the leak.

Turned out to be an oil feed pipe that had come adrift and so dropped all the oil out.So just a refit and refill with new oil and filter,:) .Good as new.
Thanks Marc
